When dropping off the work at the A3 gallery a couple days ago, I was assigned a number to my piece and was told I could call a number and the voice mail will read off the chosen works.  I impatiently called the number today around 3:30 pm and was anxiously waiting for the numerically read numbers to hit #43 and it did!  This will actually be the first time I will have a piece of art hanging at a standalone gallery and not as part of another building.  The exhibit will run from July 3rd at the Amherst Art Walk for the month through August 3rd.  There will be an artist reception on Saturday, July 12 from 4 to 7 pm.  Please come if you can and enjoy the beautiful artwork this gallery has to offer!

P.S. I also had a portfolio review today of my charcoal work for the Forbes Library Hosmer Gallery and will be hearing back from them by the end of July.  Fingers crossed!

Even though I do have a couple gallery exhibits for this and coming year, this is my first open call submission to a gallery.  I thought I'd give it a try and submit the following white charcoal drawing of a sculpture found at the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum in the heart of Springfield, MA.  I drew this from a picture I took while visiting the museum and thought this angle from below was interesting and seems to be the perspective I always draw inspiration from, whether in drawings or photography.  Unfortunately, the silly me didn't think to take the picture prior to framing, but I thought I'd show it anyway, with reflections and all.
